He graduated from the Medical School of Athens University, where he got his PhD in 1985. After his Residency Training at the Laikon Hospital, he received the title οf FEBU. He pursued his Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Huston and Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia. In 1993 he was elected Lecturer. He was promoted to all levels and became Professor in 2012. He was a Member of the EAU Guidelines Office (2001-2010). Since 2010, he has been the Chairman of the EAU Guidelines Office ad hoc Committee for reporting of complications. Since 2003, he has been an Examiner of EBU. He was an Editorial Board Member of journals "Hellenic Urology", "Modern Urology", "Anir" and a Reviewer in 11 journals.
He has been honored with Awards / Fellowships from the European School of Oncology (1990 and 1991), European Association of Urology (1997), Hellenic Urological Association (1998), Academy of Athens (1998), Empeirikeion Foundation (2001). He was conferred the first Enterpeneurship Competition Venture Award in 2002, Award at the 20th EAU Congress (2005), Patent Certificate (2005), "Wolfgang Mauermayer" Award at the German Urology Congress (2006)," C.E.Alken "Award (2006), as well as 4 Awards at Hellenic Urology Conferences. He was Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the 17th World Congress of Endourology (1999) and the 2nd International Congress on the History of Urology (2001). He has authored 51 articles published in Greek journals and 109 in international journals, as well as 7 chapters in books. He has received more than 1600 citations. His works have been presented in international (157) and Greek (120) conferences. As an Invited Speaker, he has given 170 speeches at Hellenic Meetings and 37 speeches at International Meetings. He has supervised 11 PhDs and supervises 5 Doctoral Theses under progress.
He is the President of the Urology Examinations Committee in the Attica Region, President of the Ethics Committee of the Laikon Hospital of Athens, Vice President of the Scientific Committee of the Hellenic Research Group on Genitourinary Cancer (EEOOGEK), Member of the Committee on Studies of the Medical School of Athens University and Board Member of the Property Management and Development Company of the University of Athens.
